Exactly 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
In the teaser shows the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting giveaway items locate loving owners.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with him. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
