Approximately twenty-five thousand households in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the area, producing strong winds hitting over 100 km/h.

State Emergency Services received nearly 600 calls for help across the region, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.
